Les différents moustiques nuisibles
In addition to rodents, birds and other pests, mosquitoes can also be a source of problems in your environment. Among the most common species of mosquito pests are :
The Culex mosquito is about 3 to 4 mm long. Its thorax, legs and wing veins are always covered with brown scales. Its color is dull and the tip of its abdomen is rounded. Culex mosquito eggs are brown, long and cylindrical. They are found vertically below the surface of the water, clustered in batches of 300. This type of mosquito thrives mainly in rice paddies, polluted stagnant water and drains.
The Aedes mosquito is another common pest in the region. It is small in size, with a length similar to that of the Culex mosquito. This mosquito is distinguished by characteristic white markings on its legs and body. Aedes mosquitoes are known vectors of diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya and the Zika virus. They breed in stagnant water, such as puddles, containers or flower pots, and can become a real problem in urban areas.
Appearance: light and dark markings on wings.
Reproduction: between 50 and 150 eggs.
Habitat: they prefer clean, unpolluted waters.
The adult has mottled wings. The larva lies 45 degrees below the water surface. Eggs are about 1mm long and have floats. The larva remains parallel to the water surface.
Anophiles reach adulthood between 7 and 10 days. Their metamorphosis is complete, from egg to larva to nymph to adult. Its preferred habitat is clean water. It bites at night. It remains the main vector of malaria.
