Experts in eliminating bed bugs from your home

Bed bugs belong to the order Hemiptera, more precisely to the suborder Heteroptera. There are several suborders of Heteroptera, including half-winged bedbugs, which are unable to fly. Among these heteropterans are different varieties of crawling bugs.

The bedbug is the most commonly encountered in human environments. Other varieties of heteroptera are found in birds, occupying their nests, such as the swallow bug or Martin bug (Oeciacus hirundinis), the pigeon bug (Cimex columbarius), and the Cimex pipistrella variety that inhabits attics frequented by bats.

Bedbugs' feeding habits

Most heteropterans live in the wild, feeding on plant sap or hunting a variety of small arthropods such as aphids, mites, caterpillars and so on. Examples include the poplar bug (Anthocoris nemorum), a member of the anthocoridae family, and the conifer bug.

Characteristics of bed bugs and their effects on health

Bed bugs of the Cimidae family, also known as Cimex, are apterous insects, although they have very short forewings and totally atrophied hindwings. All bedbug species are hematophagous, feeding on blood.

Although bed bugs are not considered direct vectors of disease, their bites can cause skin irritation, allergies and even malaise. They significantly disrupt the sleep of the elderly and children, even triggering seizures.
